Glycan Modeler

Determining the glycan structures in glycoproteins are challenging because of the high level of flexibility and heterogeneity of glycan chains. Our rationale is that building a glycan structural model from a primary sequence is feasible because there are carbohydrate structures available in PDB that can be used as fragment templates. Our general approach in Glycan Modeler is to use both the PDB glycan structures as fragment templates and the accessible glycosidic torsion angles of specific linkages to connect the fragment templates. For a given carbohydrate sequence with defined glycosidic linkage information at a specific glycosylation site, the following overall scheme (Figure 4) is used for Glycan Modeler.
